Shivasatakshi Municipality, located in Jhapa District, is one of the most prominent municipalities under Province No. 1. The Government of Nepal officially announced the formation of this municipality through a notice published in the Gazette on 2073/11/27 B.S. (corresponding to March 10, 2017 A.D.), by merging the then Shivasatakshi Municipality, Panchgachi Village Development Committee (VDC), and Dharampur VDC.
This municipality is bordered by Kankai Municipality to the east, Kamal Rural Municipality to the west, Gaurigunj Rural Municipality to the south, and Mai Municipality of Ilam District to the north. For the purposes of federal parliamentary elections, Shivasatakshi falls under Electoral Constituency No. 4, and for provincial assembly elections, it lies within Provincial Constituency 4(B).
Out of Jhapa District’s total area of 1,619.92 square kilometers, Shivasatakshi Municipality occupies approximately 8.98 percent of the land. Divided into a total of 11 wards, the municipality spans a total area of 145.48 square kilometers. Geographically, Shivasatakshi lies between 26 degrees 36 minutes 55 seconds north latitude and 87 degrees 50 minutes 07 seconds east longitude.
The municipality is home to several religious, historical, and cultural landmarks, including the sacred Satakshidham religious site, the Domukha tourist area, and the culturally significant Chillagadh. Additionally, numerous temples, monasteries, rivers, streams, canals, ponds, wetlands, and lush forests contribute to the municipality’s peaceful, attractive, and picturesque environment.
While compared to other municipalities, it may have fewer developed infrastructures, Shivasatakshi is considered a region of immense potential. The municipal headquarters is located at Byangdanda in Ward No. 7.
Currently, Mr. Megahang Thopra (Roshan) of Ward No. 9 serves as the Mayor, and Ms. Naramaya Karki of Ward No. 7 serves as the Deputy Mayor. Since the election of the local representatives, the municipal executive has approved and implemented several administrative regulations, including the Municipal Executive Division Regulation and the Operational Guidelines. All administrative and developmental activities of the municipality are being conducted based on these policies.
According to the 2075 B.S. (2018 A.D.) household survey, the population of Shivasatakshi Municipality is 74,366.
The current ward structure is as follows:
- Former Dharampur VDC now comprises Wards No. 1, 2, and 3
- Former Panchgachi VDC now comprises Wards No. 4 and 5
- Former Shivaganj VDC is now Wards No. 6 and 7
- Former Satakshidham VDC comprises Wards No. 8, 9, 10, and 11

नमस्ते ! हजुरलाई शिवसताक्षी नगरपालिकामा स्वागत छ।
झापा जिल्लामा अवस्थित शिवसताक्षी नगरपालिका प्रदेश नं. १ अन्तरगतको धेरै ठूलो विशेषता बोकेको नगरपालिका हो। नेपाल सरकारले मिति २०७३/११/२७ गतेको राजपत्रमा सूचना प्रकाशित गरि साविकको शिवसताक्षी नगरपालिका, पाँचगाछी गा.वि.स तथा धरमपुर गा.वि.स सम्मिलित गरी यस शिवसताक्षी नगरपालिका गठन गरेको हो। यस नगरपालिकाको पूर्वमा कन्काई नगरपालिका,पश्चिममा कमल गाउँपालिका, दक्षिणमा गौरीगन्ज गाउँपालिका र उत्तरमा इलामको माई नगरपालिकासँग सिमाना जोडिएको छ। यो नगरपालिका जिल्लाभित्रको प्रतिनिधि सभा निर्वाचन प्रयोजनका लागि निर्वाचन क्षेत्र ४ मा पर्दछ भने प्रदेश सभानिर्वाचन क्षेत्रमा भने ४ ख मा पर्दछ ।
जिल्लाको कुल क्षेत्रफल १६१९.९२ वर्ग किमी मध्ये शिवसताक्षी नगरपालिकाले ८.९८ प्रतिशत भुभाग ओगटेको छ । जम्मा ११ वटा वडामा विभाजन गरिएको यस नगरपालिकाको कुल क्षेत्रफल १४५.४८ वर्ग कि.मी. रहेको छ । शिवसताक्षी नगरपालिका भौगोलिक अवस्थितिका हिसाबले २६ डिग्री ३६ मिनेट ५५ सेकेण्ड उत्तरी अक्षांश र ८७ डिग्री ५०मिनेट ०७ सेकेण्ड पुर्वी देशान्तरमा फैलिएको छ ।
सताक्षीधाम धार्मिक क्षेत्र, दोमुखा पर्यटकिय क्षेत्र, चिल्लागढ ऐतिहासिक साँस्कृतिक क्षेत्र लगायत विभिन्न मठ मन्दिर, गुम्बा तथा खोलानाला, नहर, कुलो, पोखरी, सिमसार क्षेत्र तथा हरिया वनहरूले यस नगरपालिकालाई शान्त, आकर्षक र रमणिय बनाएका छन् ।अन्य नगरपालिकाहरूको तुलनामा विकासका पूर्वाधारहरू कम भएता पनि अत्याधिक सम्भावना बोकेको क्षेत्रको रूपमा यस नगरलाई लिईन्छ । नगरपालिकाको केन्द्र वडा नं. ७ स्थित ब्याङ्गडाँडामा रहेको छ । नगरपालिकाको प्रमुखमा वडा नं. ९ निवासी श्री मेगाहाङ्ग थोप्रा (रोशन) तथा उप-प्रमुखमा वडा नं. ७ निवासी श्री नरमाया कार्की निर्वाचित हुनुभएको छ । जनप्रतिनिधिहरू निर्वाचित भै आए पश्चात नगर कार्यपालिकाले नगर कार्यपालिका कार्यविभाजन नियमावली, कार्यसम्पादन नियमावली लगायतका विभिन्न नियमावली र कार्यविधिहरू स्वीकृत गरी त्यसैका आधारमा नगर कार्यपालिकाका दैनिक प्रशासनिक तथा विकासात्मक कार्यहरू संचालित छन् ।
२०७५ को घरधुरी सर्वेक्षण अनुसार यस नगरपालिकाको जनसंख्या ७४,३६६ रहेको छ । साविक धरमपुर गा.वि.स. हाल वडा नं. १, २ र ३ साविक पाँचगाछि गा.वि.स हाल वडा नं. ४ र ५ को रूपमा रहेको छ भने वडा नं. ६ र ७ ले साविक शिवगंज गा.वि.स तथा वडा नं. ८, ९, १० र ११ ले साविक सताक्षीधाम गा.वि.स.लाई समेटेको छ। वडा अनुसार नगरपालिकाको क्षेत्रफल यस अनुसार रहेको छ ।
