Panditpur

Beneath layers of river silt, Panditpur preserves the buried remains of an ancient settlement dating to the Buddha’s era. Recent excavations have revealed brick structures, pottery, ornaments, animal figurines, and Kushan-era copper coins. Scientific analysis dates earlier unearthed structures to the sixth century BCE, strengthening the site’s significance as a major ancient settlement, possibly linked to the Koliya republic and its historical heart.
