Manakamana Devi Temple
Namaste! Welcome to the Manakamana Devi Temple in Baglung.
Located 1.5 kilometers southwest of Baglung Bazaar, Manakamana Devi Temple is situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings. The periphery of this temple is surrounded with bushes and trees. From the temple premises, one can enjoy the panoramic view of the Nilgiri Himalayas. Similarly, on the southern side of the temple, there is a rough motor road leading to Tityang, Bhakunde, Rayadanda and Singana of Baglung. Additionally, on the southeastern side of the temple, from the Mulpani of Tityang, water flows and mixes with the Kathekhola river.
Establishment of the Temple
While playing Deusi- Bhailo during the Tihar festival, certain sum of money was collected. The locals searched towards finding the right investment of that money. Upon discussion, the construction of Manakamana Temple was envisioned. People from Baglung Municipality Ward no. 9, Tityang, Lower Bukeni, Upper Bukeni, Aathmure, Kamal Danda and Chaargau, constructed the temple at Swami Danda near to Chargau.
After the construction of the temple, for the proper installation of the idol of Goddess Manakamana, priests and officials visited the Manakamana Temple in Gorkha for consultation. Accordingly, the idol of Goddess Manakamana was formally installed, and various rituals, hymns, music, and dances were performed in Baglung Bazar and the idol of goddess Manakamana was circumambulated around Baglung Bazar premises, during the temple’s inauguration. Thus, the Manakamana Devi Temple was established on the 31st of Chaitra, 2053 B.S. (Nepali calendar).
Structure of the Temple
The two storied Manakamana Devi Temple stands with a height of about fifteen feet and is spread over an area of fifty-three square feet. The temple, shaded by copper roofs, has statues of various deities within its premises. Furthermore, one can see two temples of Lord Ganesh established by the locals themselves within the temple premises.
Daily Worship
After the installation of the idol of Goddess Manakamana, regular worship is conducted by priests here. Animals like goats, chickens, ducks, etc., are offered as sacrifices during several rituals. However, animal sacrifices is not performed here during the month of Shrawan and Magh. Furthermore, various religious festivals are celebrated grandly at this Manakamana Devi Temple. Navadurga Puja, Asthami, Panchami, as well as festivals like Chaite Dashain are celebrated with great importance in the courtyard of this Manakamana Devi Temple.
मनकामना देवी मन्दिर
नमस्ते! बागलुङको मनकामना देवी मन्दिरमा हजुरहरुलाई स्वागत छ।
बागलुङ बजारदेखि पश्चिम दक्षिणमा १.५ किलोमिटर दुरीमा पर्ने यो मन्दिर प्रकृतिको मनोरम वातावरण बिच अवस्थित रहेको छ। वरिपरी चारैतिर खर, बुट्टेन रुखहरुले ढाकिएको यो मनकामना देवीको मन्दिरबाट निलगिरी हिमालको दृश्यावलोकन गर्न सकिन्छ। त्यस्तै, मन्दिरको दक्षिणतर्फ बजार जाने आउने मुल गोरेटो पर्दछ भने हाल त्यहि कच्ची मोटरबाटो हुँदै तित्याङ, भकुन्डे, रायडाँडा, सिंगाना जाने आउने गरिन्छ। यसका साथै, मन्दिरको नजिक पूर्व दक्षिणबाट तित्याङको मुलपानी भन्ने स्थानबाट मुल उत्पती भई काठेखोलामा मिसिन पुग्छ।
मन्दिरको स्थापना
दशैँ तिहारको समयमा स्थानीयहरु सबै मिलेर देउसी भैलो खेल्ने क्रममा केहि रकम जम्मा भएको थियो। त्यो रकमलाई कुन प्रयोजनका लागि प्रयोग गर्ने भनेर छलफल गर्दा मन्दिर बनाउने भने निष्कर्षमा पुगेपछि मनकामना मन्दिर निर्माणको कल्पना बुनिएको थियो। बा. न. पा. ९, तित्याङ, तल्लो बुकेनी, उपल्लो बुकेनी, आठमुरे, कमलडाँडा, चारगाउँका मगर समुदायका मानिसहरुले चारगाउँको पायक पर्ने गरी स्वामीडाँडामा मन्दिरको बनाइएको हो। यद्यपी मनकामना देवीको मूर्ति विधिवत राख्नको लागि गोरखाको मनकामना मन्दिरमा गएर पुजारी तथा त्यहाँका पदाधिकारीहरुसँग सरसल्लाह गरी आएका थिए। यसै अनुरुप, मनकामना देवीको मूर्तिलाई विधिवत रुपमा पूजाआजा, भजन किर्तन, बाजागाजा, नाचगान सहित बागलुङ बजार परिक्रमा गर्दै हाल भइरहेको स्थानमा प्रतिस्थापन गराइयो। यसरी, बागलुङमा मनकामना देवीको मन्दिर वि. सं. २०५३ साल चैत्र ३१ गते शुल्क पंचमीका दिन स्थापना भएको हो।
मन्दिरको बनावट
करिब पन्ध्र फिट उचाई भएको दुई तल्ले मनकामना देवीको मन्दिर ५३ वर्ग फिटमा फैलिएको छ। यस मन्दिरलाई तामाको छानाले छाएको साथै मन्दिरको वरिपरी चारैतिर विभिन्न देवी देवताहरुको मूर्ति रहेको छ। मन्दिर परिसरभित्र स्थानीयले स्थापना गरेका गणेश भगवानको दुईवटा मन्दिरहरु रहेका छन्।
नित्यपूजा
मनकामना देवीको मूर्ति प्रतिस्थापन भईसकेपछि यहाँ नियमित रुपमा पुजारीद्वारा नित्य पुजा हुँदै आइरहेको छ। यसका अतिरिक्त, श्रावण र माघ महिनामा बाहेक यो मन्दिरमा बोका, राँगो, कुखुरा, हाँस लगायतका पशु पंक्षीहरुको वली दिएर वली पूजा पनि गर्ने गरिन्छ। त्यस्तै, विभिन्न धार्मिक पूजा तथा चाडपर्वहरु भव्य रुपमा मनाउने गरिन्छ। नवदुर्गा पूजा, अष्टमी, पंचमी साथै चैते दशैँ लगायतका पर्व पुजाहरु विशेष महत्वका साथ यस मनकामना देवी मन्दिरको प्रांगणमा मनाइन्छन्।
