NILGIRI BASE CAMP / SOCHI

A beautiful green grassland with tiny stream provides a perfect closeup of Nilgiri mountain. You
can also get a panoramic view of the upcoming trekking route along with the natural vegetation.

This is a pastureland used by cattle herders as resting place. You can see an ancient looking stone structure nearby those houses. It is used by those herders to light dhup(natural aromatic candles). Since many centuries, locals have offered their livestocks to prey for their safety and well being. Sometimes, trekkers use this place to sleep and rest, enjoying the view and continue their journey tomorrow. So, it is also sometimes referred as Nilgiri base camp.
