Trekkers on the Annapurna Circuit often make their way across the 5,416-meter high Thorong
La pass, which marks the watershed between the Manang and Kali Gandaki valleys. However,
this is an increasingly popular alternative route skirts Tilicho Lake to the north. This path is
more challenging and requires at least one night of camping. There are no teahouses or lodges
past the Tilicho Base Camp, located a few kilometers east of the lake, until reaching the village
of Thini Village in the Kali Gandaki valley. Most groups typically spend two nights between
these two points. To reach Thini Gaon and Jomsom, trekkers can choose from two passes:
Mesokanto La and Tilicho North Pass, also known as the “Tilicho Tourist Pass.” These routes via
Tilicho Lake tend to be more prone to closure due to snow, compared to the higher Thorong La.
