Namaste! Welcome to the Seti Gorge.
The Seti, which literally means white river, originates from the Annapurna massif. Famous for its mesmerizing flow and its milky white water, is the Seti River. The water carves a deep gorge just above the mighty Mahabharata Range and then plunges deep into the ground in the heart of the city. The gorge can be seen from the old Pokhara park near the Gorkha Museum. The river itself disappears into caves and tunnels at many places along the route through Pokhara city. At various places, the Seti is barely 2 meters wide but can reach 20 meters deep. The river gorge can be seen from various parts of the city from the Mahendra Bridge, K.I. Singh Bridge and Prithvi Chowk Bridge. Especially from this place near the K.I. Singh Bridge, one can see this deep gorge, which has been carved by the fierce flow of the river for thousands of years.
नमस्ते ! हजुरलाई सेतीको खोंचमा स्वागत छ।
सेती जसको शाब्दिक अर्थ सेतो नदी हो, अन्नपूर्ण मासिफबाट उत्पत्ति भएको हो। आफ्नो भ्रामक बहाव र यसको दूधिया सेतो पानीका लागि प्रसिद्ध छ- सेती नदी । पानीले शक्तिशाली महाभारत शृङ्खलाको ठीक माथि एक गहिरो खोंच काट्छ र त्यसपछि शहरको बीच तिरको जमीनभित्र गहिराइमा जान्छ। गोरखा सङ्ग्रहालय नजिकै रहेको पुरानो पोखराको पार्कबाट यो खाल्डो देख्न सकिन्छ । पोखरा शहर हुँदै जाने मार्गमा पर्ने धेरै ठाउँका गुफा र सुरुङमा नदी नै लोप हुने गरेको देखिन्छ। विभिन्न ठाउँमा सेती मुस्किलले २ मिटर चौडा छ तर यसको गहिराइ २० मिटर सम्म पुग्न सक्छ। शहरका विभिन्न स्थान महेन्द्र पुल, केआई सिंह पुल र पृथ्वीचोक पुलबाट नदीको खोँच देख्न सकिन्छ । विशेष गरी के.आई. सिंह पुल नजिक भएको यो स्थानबाट, नदीको उग्र बहावले हजारौं सालदेखि जमिनलाई पिटेर बनाएको यो गहिरो खोंच देख्न सकिन्छ।
