For the past six generations, Vishahara Temple has been renowned for healing snakebite victims through spiritual rituals. People from both within Nepal and beyond its borders visit this temple seeking relief from snakebites and other serpent-related afflictions.
The temple sees a huge influx of devotees during the months of Shrawan (July-August), Bhadra (August-September), and Ashoj (September-October), as this is when snakes are most active. Many individuals suffering from snakebites, serpent-related curses, or other snake-related concerns come here to seek divine intervention and healing.
People from Sarlahi, Khairawa, Dhurwa, Inarwa, Sisaut, Chapur, and various other places visit Vishahara Temple to find solutions to their snake-related problems.
Major Rituals & Festivals:
- On the first day of the month of Magh (January-February), during Shri Panchami, there is a tradition of preparing kheer (rice pudding) and offering it to the young girls in the village as well as to Vishahara Bhagwati as an act of devotion.
- On the second day of Shrawan, during Nag Panchami and Mana Panchami, milk offerings are made at the temple.
- On these days, devotees also perform Vishahara Puja and offer sacrificial offerings based on their vows.

जय विषहरा ! जय दुर्गा !
नमस्कार ! हजुरलाई विषहरा मन्दिरमा स्वागत छ ।
हालको समयभन्दा करिब ६ पुस्ता अघि देखि नै सर्पको विषको झारफुकको लागि विषहरा मन्दिर प्रसिद्ध रहेको छ । यस विषहरा मन्दिरमा स्थानीय क्षेत्र मात्र नभएर नेपाल बाहिरबाट पनि सर्पले टोकेको मानिसहरु आउने गर्छन् । प्रायजसो श्रावण, भाद्र र असोज महिनामा जतिबेला सर्पहरु धेरै सक्रिय हुने बेलामा यस मन्दिरमा विशेष भीड हुने गर्दछ। धेरै मानिसहरु सर्पले टोकेको, सर्पदोष र अन्य सर्प संग सम्बन्धित समस्या समाधान र पूजाहरु गर्न आउने गर्छन् । विषहरा मन्दिरमा सर्लाही, खैरावा, धुरवा, इनरवा, सिसौढ़, चपुर, आदि ठाउँहरुबाट पनि सर्पसंग सम्बन्धित सबै समस्याको समाधानको लागि आउने गरेका छन् ।
माघ महिनाको पहिलो दिन श्री पंचमीको दिन गाउँभरिका कुमारीलाई खीर बनाएर र भोजन गराउने चलन पनि रहेको छ। सोहि दिन विषहरा भगवतीलाई खीर खुवाएर प्रसन्न गरिन्छ । त्यसैगरी, श्रावण महिनाको दोस्रो दिन नाग पंचमी र मना पंचमीको अवसरमा मन्दिरमा दुध चढाइन्छ। सो दिन, विषहरा पूजा गर्ने र भाकल अनुसारको बलि चढाउन गर्छन्।
