Welcome to Jagadamba Mai Temple!
Jagadamba Mai Temple is located in Ward No. 2 of Durga Bhagwati Municipality, approximately 1 km north of Dondi Bridge, in a beautiful garden area. The temple’s origin is linked to numerous accounts of people seeing visions of Jagadamba Mata in the garden and dreams instructing them to worship her. Inspired by these divine signs, the temple construction process began.
The idol of Jagadamba Mata was established on Asar 17, 2074 B.S. (Saturday, Asar Shukla Dashami) by Ram Padarth Thakur, who felt a deep inspiration to enshrine the goddess at this location. Jagadamba Mata is also known as “Brahmandaki Devi” (Goddess of the Universe), worshipped as the divine mother who nurtures and protects all living beings. Religious texts mention that Goddess Jagadamba took the form of Durga to battle Mahishasura, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
Installation of Panchmukhi Hanuman Idol
To enhance the temple’s spiritual aura, the 5-foot Panchmukhi Hanuman idol was enshrined on Kartik 17, 2078 B.S. (Wednesday, Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi, Hanuman Jayanti) by Brajanath Thakur. This form of Hanuman, with five faces looking in different directions, is considered one of his most powerful manifestations. The five faces represent different deities:
- Hanuman – Symbolizing strength and devotion
- Narasimha – Providing protection
- Garuda – Destroying negativity
- Varaha (Adi Varah) – Supporting the earth
- Hayagriva – Bestowing wisdom
This Panchmukhi Hanuman form is believed to have originated in Patal Lok when Lord Hanuman was given the responsibility to save Lord Rama’s life. He is often depicted holding multiple weapons, including a parashu (battle axe), chakra, gada, trishul, and sword.
Daily Worship & Festivals
Following the installation of the deities, Bachhu Jha was appointed as the temple’s priest, ensuring the continuity of daily rituals and prayers. Jagadamba Mata is considered one of the nine forms of Goddess Durga, making Dashain a grand celebration here.
Major Events at the Temple:
- Dashain Festival: From Ghatasthapana (first day of Dashain) to Tika (last day), the temple witnesses a large influx of devotees.
- Hanuman Jayanti: Celebrated one day before Deepawali, featuring special prayers, a flag-changing ceremony, and the distribution of Prasad to devotees.

नमस्कार! हजुरलाई जगदम्बा माई मन्दिरमा स्वागत छ ।
दुर्गा भगवती गाउँपालिका, वडा नं २ मा दोंडी पुल भन्दा लगभग १ किलोमीटर उत्तर तिर बगैंचामा जगदम्बा माई मन्दिर अवस्थित छ। धेरै मानिसहरुले जगदम्बा मातालाई बगैंचामा देखेको कुराहरु र सपनामा आएर मेरो पूजा गर्नु भन्ने कुरा उठ्न थाले पछि जगदम्बा माई मन्दिरको निर्माणको प्रक्रिया सुरु भयो। त्यही स्थानमा माताको मन्दिर परिसरमा मुर्ति बनाउने प्रेरणा राम पदार्थ ठाकुरको मनमा आयो । ९४ वर्ष राम पदार्थ ठाकुरद्वारा हालको स्थानमा जगदम्बा माताको मुर्ति २०७४ साल असार महिनाको १७ गते सालमा शनिबार, असार शुक्लपक्षको दशमी तिथिको दिन प्राण प्रतिष्ठा भयो । “जगदम्बा” मातालाई “ब्रह्माण्डकी देवी” को नामले पनि चिनिन्छ । सबै जीवहरुको पालनपोषण र सुरक्षा गर्ने आमाको रूपमा पनि देवीको पूजा आराधना हुने गर्दछ। महिषासुर नामक राक्षससँग लड्न जगदम्बाले दुर्गाको रूप धारण गरेको प्रसङ्ग पनि धार्मिक ग्रन्थहरुमा उल्लेखित छ। जगदम्बा, जसलाई जगदम्बा देवी पनि भनिन्छ, हिन्दू धर्ममा देवी दुर्गा वा पार्वतीको रूप पनि मानिन्छ।
मन्दिरको परिसरमा बजरंग बलि वा हनुमानको मुर्ति स्थापना गर्दा स्थानीयहरुले पनि दर्शनको लाभ लिन मिल्ने भएकाले ५ फूटको पंचमुखी हनुमानको मुर्तिको प्राण प्रतिष्ठा ब्रजनाथ ठाकुरद्वारा २०७८ साल कार्तिक महिना १७ गते कार्तिक कृष्णपक्ष चतुर्दशी तिथिमा बुधबार हनुमान जन्मोत्सव/जयन्तिको शुभ साहितमा भयो ।संसारभर हनुमानका धेरै भक्तहरू छन् विभिन्न रूपहरूमा पूजा गर्छन्। हनुमानको धेरै रूपहरू मध्ये एक शक्तिशाली रुप पंचमुखी हनुमान हो – पाँचवटा अनुहारहरू विभिन्न दिशाहरूमा हेरिरहेका छन्। पञ्चमुखी हनुमानलाई उहाँको ’विराट'(विशाल) रूपहरू मध्ये एक मानिन्छ। पंचमुखी हनुमानको पाँच रुपहरुमा हनुमान, नरसिम्ह, गरुड, आदिबराह र ह्याग्रिव भगवानको विभिन्न रुपहरु देख्न सकिन्छन्। यो रूप पाताल लोकमा उत्पन्न भयो जब वायुपुत्र हनुमानलाई भगवान रामको जीवन बचाउने जिम्मेवारी दिइएको थियो। यो रूपमा हनुमानको पाँच रुपलाई परशु (युद्धको कुल्हाडी), चक्र, गदा, त्रिशूल र तरवार जस्ता धेरै हतियारहरू बोकेको देख्न सकिन्छ।
मन्दिरमा मुर्ति र पंचमुखी हनुमानको स्थापना भएपछि बच्चु झालाई पुजारीको रुपमा नियुक्ति गरेर नियमित पूजा हुन थाल्यो । जगदम्बा मातालाई दुर्गा माताको नौ वटा रुप मध्ये एक रुप मानिन्छ । त्यसैले, दशैंको घटस्थापनाको दिन देखि टिकाको दिनसम्म मन्दिरमा भक्तजनहरुको विशेष भिड लाग्ने गरेको छ । दिपावलीको एक दिन अघि हनुमान जयन्तिको दिन हनुमानको पूजा हुन्छ, झन्डा फेरिन्छ र भक्तजनहरुलाई प्रसाद दिने कार्यहरु गरिन्छ ।
