Maharaj Sagar is also known as Dasaratha Talau (lake) , is located in the south of Ranbhumi and west of Janaki temples. The Maharaj sagar is North West of king Dasharath temple. There is a belief that Parashu Ramji was saved from the sin of maternal killing after bathing in this lake. As per Mithila mahatmaya, In the month of November and December bathing in this pond removes all kinds of sins.
